Pae White art installation

by Pae White '81

Commissioned to commemorate the Westridge Centennial

Pae White is a multimedia artist known for reinterpreting familiar encounters and ordinary items in revealing the artfulness of the natural and everyday. A 1981 Westridge graduate, Pae received her BA from Scripps College in 1985, studied at Skowhegan (Maine) School of Painting and Sculpture, and received an MFA from Art Center College of Design.

She has an international career, with shows in Milan, Brussels, Berlin, London and Auckland, in addition to displays in the Venice Biennial and Whitney Biennial. The transformation of space and the intricacy of natural forms are revealed through her use of inventive materials, resulting in ornate objects and complex installations that interrupt the traditional boundaries between art and design.

Pae has designed publications and advertisements for a number of museum, galleries, and magazines. A recipient of numerous grants, awards and fellowship, Pae's work is held in public and private collections around the world.
