Sandy de Grijs
Upper School History Teacher
B.A., History, University of Michigan
Before joining Westridge in 1996, Sandy taught at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for three years while pursuing her graduate studies in Middle Eastern history. During that time, she taught an undergraduate seminar, “Women and Gender in the Middle East,” and was a research assistant at the G.E. von Grunebaum Center for Near Eastern Studies. Her interest in the Middle East stems from having lived in Lebanon as a child in the early 1970s, a country to which she returned in 2005, before traveling to Jordan and Syria. Sandy taught a class on Middle Eastern history at UCLA Extension in 2008.
