Creative Writing Classes Collaborate with Crossroads School in "Cross the Ridge"

Tarra Stevenson's Upper School Creative Writing I & II classes collaborated with the Photography II & III classes from Crossroads School to create an imaginative art exchange!

Westridge students were studying ekphrastic poems, or a piece of creative writing traditionally describing a painting (but which may also describe sculpture, photography, or drawing). In an exercise in creating during quarantine, Crossroads students created unique photography pieces and shared them with Westridge students, who then wrote poems or short stories about the images of their choice. Westridge students also wrote several pieces that Crossroads students then were asked to interpret visually.

This writing and photography mash-up developed into a miniseries of students' artistic interpretations of one another's work. Click here to see some of their work!
