While the rest of the campus has gone quiet, the STEAMWork Design Studio has been running full steam ahead to 3D print masks and face shields for healthcare workers at USC Keck Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. STEAMWork Design Studio Coordinator David Prince is leading the effort with the help of senior Jay H.-K., and they have already printed 36 masks and eight face shields as of today!
This effort is part of a movement from CRASH Space, a local Maker community, to crowdsource hundreds of 3D printers around Los Angeles to print 6,000 masks for USC Keck and face shields for Cedar-Sinai (and that's just to start with). CRASH Space is collaborating with several LA hospitals to help meet the demand for protective equipment for healthcare workers in our community.
Want to help? If you have a 3D printer at home or extra 3D printing filament you would like to donate, please contact Mr. Prince at firstname.lastname@example.org.
