Freshmen Learn to "Tech Declutter" in Human Development Class
Posted 10/17/2019 04:00PM

Our 9th grade Human Development class began its "tech declutter" unit this week! With the help of Mrs. Sanchez-Langley, our resident digital literacy coordinator, the 9th grade had great discussions about how to be more present in a technology-filled world, what it means to be mindful technology consumers, and practices that can be put in place to make sure we don't become codependent on our phones. Students read research, watched videos by the Center for Humane Technology (formerly known as Time Well Spent), and shared their personal experiences with phone use. We can all work toward a world with less "phubbing" (the practice of ignoring your companion in order to pay attention to your phone - i.e. PHone snUBBING.)
